In the past few years, Motor Factory has recognized the fact that the market's appetite for higher performance engines with increased displacement
and horsepower substantially increases the demands for gasket sealing performance. To meet the wide range of performance needs from stock
engines to high compression engines, Motor Factory offers a new line of state-of-the-art gasket material technologies. Below are definitions of the
new gasket material composites and their typical applications in the Motor Factory gasket product line. All Motor Factory gaskets are made in the
USA.
State-of-The-Art in Gasket Technology Definition and
Applications
MICROPORE technology material is an upgraded, highly permeation resistant
sealing technology offering superior sealability at low flange loads in less-
than-desirable surface conditions. Exhibits low creep relaxation and strong
resistance to crush, eliminating the need to re-torque under normal joint
conditions. Micropore is best suited in demanding cover type applications
consisting of cast or stamped metals such as the following cover applications:
outer primary, primary inspection covers, cam covers, lifter block covers, and
transmission top covers. Additionally, Micropore gaskets provide outstanding
sealing robustness in various fuel/air system applications such as air filter
element, and fuel injection filter element gaskets.
HYDRO-FUSED offers high crush resistance, exceptional torque retention,
outstanding resistance to blowout and high surface friction on metal flanges.
In addition Hydro-Fused gaskets provide resistance to thermally induced
scrubbing while providing excellent sealing and load retaining properties. lt
is an extremely tough, high density, and very durable material designed to
seal challenging applications such as cylinder base, and rocker box housings,
and some head gaskets. Encore HTX-900 is special use Hydro-Fused composite
for exhaust and head gasket applications. This material is a graphite coated,
high-density non-asbestos fiber/metal reinforced composite for elevated
temperature and thermally stressed head gasket application.
SYNTHESEAL is an industry proven, general purpose Nitrile binder and
reinforced fiber gasket material used in lower temperature and less difficult
sealing environments. lt exhibits excellent crush resistance at high flange
pressures and compatibility with a wide range of fluids. Syntheseal gaskets
are best suited for the following applications: transmission side covers,
carburetor, air cleaner backing plate and intake, and transmission bearing
housing gaskets. Resin Reinforced and High Tensile Strength fiber gaskets
provide excellent erosion and blowout resistance in high-pressure oil pump
applications. Tight thickness tolerance permits consistent gear and bearing
stack-up.
HIGH PERFORMANCE FACING MATERIAL WITH GRAPHITE COATING on Steel Core Old Technology
with Fire Ring is the new standard construction for most of the Motor Factory
head gasket applications. This multi-layer fiber/metal reinforced composite
6 head gasket delivers improved combustion sealing strength along with
excellent bolt load retention and outstanding resistance to blowout. With
the anti-stick properties of the graphite coating, these head gaskets will not
stick upon disassembly.
RUBBER COATED STEEL (RCS) provides superior engine sealing to high
performance engines, resulting in less maintenance and longer gasket life.
RCS is ideal for tight tolerance applications. This material is superior in
torque retention and improved conformance to flange finishes with surface
imperfections. This material is best suited for rocker box housing gaskets.
FOAM COATED STEEL CORE is a proven technology, ideal for machined and cast
surfaces that are uneven. The foam is chemically-blown, and compounded
with nitrile synthetic rubber, that is then bonded to an aluminum core. This
material has exceptional recovery while maintaining strong torque retention.
Proper installation of these gaskets will create a seal that prevents seeping,
leaking, and weeping of lubricant fluids, and they will not rip, tear, or wick.
This composite material is used for the Motor Factory 3-hole, and 5-hole solid
derby cover gaskets.
